As spring blossoms across mid-Michigan, Delhi Township’s extensive network of trails and parks is awakening with renewed energy, inviting residents and visitors to explore the natural beauty that makes this community special. From beautiful fishing waters to connected trail systems, the township continues to expand its outdoor recreation options year-round.
At the heart of this outdoor renaissance is Esker Landing Park, a 15-acre recreation hub of Delhi Township. The park features a popular kayak launch with a convenient rental program—perfect timing as warm t emperatures make water activities increasingly appealing. Visitors won’t have to travel far to enjoy water activities due to the park’s ample parking and short walk to the kayak launch and fishing dock.
The park serves as a trailhead for the Esker Landing Park Trail, which connects Cedar Street through Esker Park southward, creating a scenic pathway through some of Delhi Township’s most picturesque landscapes. This trail is just one component of an interconnected system that includes the Holt Road Trailhead Park linking Holt Road to Cedar Street, the Ram Trail connecting downtown to western Delhi Township and Holt High School, the Sycamore Trail connecting to the Lansing River Trail, and the Valhalla Trail winding around the lake at Valhalla Park.
As the temperatures increase, the warmer months present the perfect opportunity to explore the fun outdoor amenities as nature reawakens. Kayaking, fishing, hiking, picnicking, photography, and exercise are all popular seasonal activities that take advantage of the township’s investment in outdoor recreation.
These investments deliver multiple benefits beyond seasonal enjoyment, including improved public health opportunities, enhanced quality of life, increased property values, environmental preservation, and community connectivity.
For residents and visitors planning to take advantage of these amenities this spring, the Parks and Recreation Department recommends downloading trail maps before heading out, checking kayak availability through the rental app, bringing appropriate safety equipment, staying informed about trail conditions, and following posted guidelines and hours.
