This popular gathering has quickly established itself as a cornerstone of community life, drawing impressive crowds to the Cedar Street Corridor and Holt Farmers Market. The event takes place in the parking lot of Holt Farmer’s Market from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., with upcoming dates including Wednesday April 23rd, May 21st and June 18th.
Created as a successor to the Holt Hometown Festival, the Holt Food Frenzy was envisioned as a way to showcase the Cedar Street Corridor and highlight the Holt Farmers Market. That vision has become a reality, as according to Chuck Grinell, market manager at Holt Farmers Market, the event has grown each year, both in attendance and vendor participation. “The Food Frenzys have become very popular. Attendance ranges from 800-1500 people per event.”
True to its name, the Food Frenzy offers a wide selection of delicious meals from a wide list of vendors, allowing attendants to not just find the food they like, but also discover new restaurants, many of which have locations in Holt. This approach ensures both variety for attendees and success for participating vendors—a win-win for the community.
In addition to the food, each event features a different genre of music, with a focus on showcasing local talent. The community atmosphere is enhanced with comfortable seating areas where friends and neighbors can gather to enjoy their meals and entertainment.
The event is for all ages as well, as Chuck Grinnell shared that “upcoming Food Frenzys will also include some fun activities for kids,” making the event even more family-friendly.
For Grinnell and his team, the biggest reward comes from seeing community members enjoy themselves. “It is always rewarding to see so many enjoy the variety of food and entertainment,” he notes.
