“We opened our doors in August of 2018 in the Holt Plaza. Our mission was to create a space for independent stylists to run their business out of that was professional yet laid back,” said Nikki McClure, owner of Salon Blush. “Our salon is very family oriented and we have hair services for everyone in the family! We are a supportive, friendly, professional, and knowledgeable group of women who simply love our jobs.”

 

How did you know you wanted to own your own business?

“My first job was as a receptionist at a hair salon. As soon as I was comfortable in the space, which was almost immediately, I knew it was what I wanted to do as a career. As I watched other women grow their business, I knew I wanted to own my own salon one day.”

 

What do you enjoy most about owning your own business?

“Helping to create a space where others can be successful is one of the things that makes me proud of the salon. I enjoy my co-workers, I enjoy my clients, and I just love the smell of a hair salon. 😉 Combine that with a flexible schedule, making people feel good about themselves, and endless coffee; it’s my dream job.”

 

Do you have a specific woman or group of women you look up to?

“I credit my mom for a lot of my self-confidence and perseverance. She always taught me to be self-sufficient and to work hard for what I wanted. She has always had my back and never misses a beat to support me. She taught me kindness by example, and the value of appreciating others.”

 

What advice would you give to other women who want to own their own business?

“The only person stopping you, is you! Work hard, take every opportunity, network, learn from your mistakes, own them, and do better next time.”

 

What do you enjoy doing outside of work?

“I love to workout at the Y. It’s my “me” time, and a chance to disconnect from my day. I’m also a TV lover and take advantage of every opportunity to sit down and enjoy a show or movie.”
