Jim Hafke has made Holt his home for the last 25 years. After graduating with the first class from the Michigan State University law school, he began practicing law immediately. Since then, he’s built up an impressive roster of clients ranging from national firms to local businesses.
“I like to say it’s small town service with big time experience,” Hafke explains. Beyond his legal practice, he’s also known throughout the community as a sports coach. “The flexibility of my job allows me to coach, and that’s something I appreciate.”
Hafke says that dedication to his clients is what differentiates him from the pack. His paralegal, Harriet Freeman, agrees. “He is an excellent lawyer because he cares about his clients. He works alone because he wants things done the right way, and he wants the personal relationships.” Freeman, who had previously worked for a large, corporate law firm based in Detroit, came out of retirement to work for Hafke.
“He’s always available to his clients and responds quickly. I really enjoy working for him,” she adds.
Hafke wants residents to know that it is always better to consult a lawyer before making big life decisions, like buying a house, selling a business, or planning for an estate. “People try to save a few bucks up front, but, if things go sideways, it ends up costing much more in the long run.”
