A.J. Black built this building in the 1890s as a general store. The building was home to Bliss Hardware from 1917 to 1959. It has since been home to several businesses, including McDowell’s Studio of Tae Kwon Do, and, since 2003, Original Okinawan Karate of Holt. The Black Building remains the oldest commercial building in Downtown Holt.
