A Letter from the Superintendent

The start of a new school year is always an exciting time – with newly sharpened pencils, crisp notebooks, and organized binders – and this fall is no different. This year, many Holt students returned to see new or upgraded facilities. Enhancements like new HVAC systems and new technology are reaching the finish line at:

  • Elliott Elementary School
  • Horizon Elementary
  • Wilcox Elementary School
  • Midway Early Learning Center

We’ll see new faces at Midway, too, with our new all-day pre-Kindergarten, five days a week for our youngest learners. We are thrilled to offer universal pre-k to 4-year-olds so they can start learning foundational math, science, and literacy skills and develop social and emotional skills in a nurturing environment.

Last week, Holt Public celebrated homecoming with opportunities for students, alumni, staff, and families to come together in a festive atmosphere, celebrating achievements and fostering connections. The week began with a pep assembly at Holt High and ended with a parade, a football game, and a performance from the band and cheerleaders. Holt High also celebrated homecoming with a dance, which created lasting memories and enhanced school pride.

As always, we are grateful to the communities that make up Holt Public Schools. We are looking forward to an incredible school year filled with opportunities to learn, grow, and express gratitude.

Be well and go Rams,

David G. Hornak, Ed.D.
Superintendent, Holt Public Schools
